Zipes, Jack
Noted scholar of children's literature, Zipes has been critical of
Rowling's novels. He is a Professor of German at the
University of Minnesota. One of his recent works is
Sticks and Stones: The Troublesome Success of Children's Literature
from Slovenly Peter to Harry Potter (Routledge 2002), in which he notes
of Rowling's novels: "if you've read one, you've read them all:
the plots are the same, and in my opinion, the story lines become tedious
and grating after you have read the first."
