As for Aberdeen and the other Knight Bus stops, maybe that is how the Knight Bus works - not along a fixed route like a Muggle bus, but along the alphabetical order of the places were the people currently riding it want to go.
JKR went to Exeter, didn’t she? So it wouldn’t be a coincidence for her to have some knowledge about surrounding towns, such as Ottery St. Mary and even Stoat Hill.
Naneferkaptah, you have an interesting idea - especially since the second time Harry takes the Knight Bus, in OP23, the bus first jumps to Birmingham and then to Hogwarts only after Tonks pays extra to have them bumped up in the queue. Although, despite the system you suggested fitting canon, it still doesn’t seem too logical; if you’re going to Yorkshire, why should you have to wait while dozens of others get on and off if the bus is capable of jumping anywhere? And it still doesn’t entirely answer the question I asked in the tour: why?
If I recall, the Burger King at Paddington station doesn’t have any seating at all. It’s just a takeaway place, and has been since I can remember (maybe early ’90s). There may be small rows of plastic seats nearby, such as are found at most train stations, but they aren’t Burger King seating and have no tables.
Does the Knight Bus perhaps work like a Portkey, such that each passenger will be transported to his destination but on a first-on, first-off basis? And then, running in parallel to this, the Bus picks up passengers by apparating to wherever they are; they then name their destination and will get there in their turn, or sooner if they bribe the driver (if that is what Tonks did). That would explain its very eccentric movements, I think.
I had never really seen the entry on Ottery St. Catchpole before–and feel quite stupid just realising this now–but Hermione’s Patronus is an otter. I always wondered why it wouldn’t be a weasel instead, but perhaps she relates her feelings with her Patronus through the location of the Weasley family rather than with a weasel itself. Interesting.
I dont think the knight bus apparates i think it can burst forward in spurts of speeds around 100 mph and this causes them to break the sound barrier causing the loud bangs but maybe the bang is the source of the knight bus being pushed forward like a canon fire.
That thing about there being a real “the burrow” and a stoat hill nearby it is quite wierd but fantastical.
KnightBus in Shining Armour has a point, it would have to be very complex magic, apperating about 50-150 people and a large bus. That’s way more than side-along apperation.
As for MissLucy’s comment, if Hermione’s attraction to the Weasley’s home was such that her patronus reflected it, than why isn’t Harry’s patronus an otter? Isn’t the Burrow one of two places that Harry truly feels at home?
I just read the essay history of the ministry and it said that lucius malfoys age was unknown but in the Order of the Pheonix it says on page 307 of the american edition “‘I feel much easier in my mind now that I know the Dumbledore is being subjeceted to fair and objective evaluation,’said mr. lucius malfoy,41,speaking from his wiltshire mansion last night.”
About the Knight Bus: It seems completely logical. Ordinary buses go in order of location, but the magical bus doesn’t need to - it takes much the same amount of time to get to any location in the UK.
When someone flags the bus down, they pick them up as soon as possible. Otherwise, they just run down the list of destinations in alphabetical order.
Not sure what happens if you get on when the bus is on the B’s and want to go to Aberdeen. Maybe you have to wait all the way through the alphabetical order until they start again at A.
Delete this if you want. I just had to say that given the size of the “pensieve” icon, I thought it said “pensteve” and that I would be treated to the coincidence stories mentioned on the tour. Obviously not, but thank you, Steve, and the staff, for creating this wonderful reference work.

This was fun. I enjoyed both tours, a bit bumpy, but worth the ride. Will you make more tours soon?
